Woman Entrepreneur- Driven to Succeed

You had the vision, passion and courage to start your own business and become a woman entrepreneur. You took that first giant step. Now you need to take the next step, and start running that marathon. You need a trainer, a mentor...you need investment funding and retail distribution.

In my recent interview with Mia Toschi on Ebru Today, we talked about some tips for women entrepreneurs to succeed.  One tip is to network at conferences, and when the opportunity arises, pitch your business plan and/or products.  At the November 30, 2012 Entrepreneur Roadshow, Esther Luongo Psarakis, President and Founder of "Taste of Crete" specialty foods, took that chance. Although she felt not fully prepared, Esther took the stage and pitched her product line to the Media Panel.

She openly conveyed her passion and joy of healthy delicious foods from Greece as to why she launched Taste of Crete, and described her skill sets from her prior work experience as a solid business foundation. However, when it comes to getting revenue growth and distribution, networking and exposure has been the key. Attending conferences and Roadshows aimed at women entrepreneurs has been valuable for Esther. The contacts she made at networking events, Esther obtained a CFO, CPA and an informal Advisory Board.  And after she took the chance to pitch at the Entrepreneur Roadshow, Esther secured an interview on EBRU News Today, (see link below).

I understand how challenging it is to pitch your business and products to investors, the media or retailers.  One of the most challenging pitch is to Retail Buyers, even for the most experienced sales professional.  That is why I recommend to take the opportunity to pitch whenever you can, but you have to be ready.  "Retail sales are complex when dealing with multi-chains. You need to carefully structure your pitch and you need a good marketing platform," Esther explains. And you need to practice.

Through her networking, she is able to obtain expert advice on launching her new product line, "Taste of Crete" Vegan Certified Cookies. Esther says she cannot stress enough the importance of developing these business relationships. "It's refreshing to get another viewpoint and sometimes a little tough love is exactly what is needed to succeed," she states.

To maintain your title of "Successful Woman Entrepreneur" and to obtain the capital funding or product distribution needed for revenue growth, women need to surround themselves with a professional team, a strong business network, and sound advice. I would like to hear your story.  Please email me at:  info@ownitventures.com.

Meanwhile, is your business or product ready for funding, media or distribution?  The Own It Ventures next Entrepreneur Roadshow will be Thursday, January 17, at CUNY-The Graduate Center in New York City. You can practice your pitch to Angel Investors, Media Representatives, and Retail Experts- PLUS get feedback.  For Details & Registration.
